POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 Senior Certificate. a suitable degree that permits occupational therapist registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Occupational Therapist Registration Certificate, Current Occupational Therapist Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and Registration Certificate as Occupational Therapist.
Experience working with paediatric patients who have neurological impairments is advised. understanding of occupational therapy’s role in law. a licence to drive. Knowledge, Competencies, And Capabilities Required: a solid understanding of the Occupational Therapy beliefs and practises. solid understanding of labour relations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ability to organise and arrange one’s own work as well as that of younger workers.
Clinical competence is the ability to carry out therapeutic protocols. Ability to inspire others, communicate clearly and resolve minor operational issues. Effective interpersonal communication and leadership. The capacity to solve problems and use analytical abilities in patient care, decision-making, and management processes. being able to organise and cooperate in a multidisciplinary team.
good understanding of paediatrics, psychiatry, and the implementation of appropriate therapeutic techniques. Understanding of the National Health Act, the Scope of Practice, and other pertinent health laws that govern Kwa Zulu Natal and the profession.
DUTIES:
Assure the provision of high-quality occupational therapy services in accordance with the demands of the patient. Give direction and leadership for the occupational therapy services. Occupational therapist assistants and community service by OTs are under your supervision. In conferences, workshops, and other gatherings, represent occupational therapy services.
Deliver therapeutic and diagnostic occupational therapy services in line with patient needs, including the completion of work and disability evaluations as well as the prescription and ordering of necessary assistive devices. Support groups for psychosocial rehabilitation for people with mental or psychiatric illnesses can be facilitated. When delivering medical care, adopt a holistic approach and, when needed, offer patient and family counselling.
Make sure the equipment is safe by conducting professional inspections and usage. To guarantee compliance with National Core Standards, develop SOPs and other quality improvement initiatives and monitor their execution. When necessary, write reports, and submit complete treatment records. Regularly attend ward rounds and update the medical staff on patient progress. Participate in institutional in-service training programmes and run awareness initiatives. contribute to the institution’s occupational therapy unit’s overall expansion.
