REQUIREMENTS:

possess the necessary training to register with the HPCSA in the related profession (if applicable). Registration in the relevant profession with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), if necessary.registration as an occupational therapist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). presently registered for 2023–2024.

Experience

Grade 1: None for South African-qualified workers who completed community service, as required in South Africa, after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession as an occupational therapist. After becoming registered with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist, a person must have one year of relevant experience. This requirement does not apply to foreign-qualified personnel who are exempt from South Africa’s community service requirement. Offer will be determined by years of demonstrated experience.

Grade 2: For qualified South African employees who completed Community Service, as required in South Africa, at least 10 years of relevant experience following registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist. A minimum of 11 years of relevant experience following registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist is required in the case of foreign-qualified employees who are exempt from South African community service requirements.

Grade 3: For South African-qualified workers who completed community service, as required in South Africa, a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience following registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist. A minimum of 21 years of relevant experience following registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist is necessary in the case of foreign-qualified employees who are exempt from South African community service requirements. Information and abilities: Background information and understanding of mental illness and drug abuse. sound understanding of empowerment and liberation of people, as well as problem-solving in interpersonal relationships.

DUTIES:

In accordance with the guidelines in the Forensic Mental Health service area, Render is an occupational therapy service. Perform forensic psychiatric assessments at the Correctional Service and the Free State Psychiatric Complex. Start occupational therapy for state patients identified by courts while they are awaiting treatment and rehabilitation at the appropriate facility in the detention centre (Grootvlei). Work collaboratively with other disciplines to implement health services. Writing effective reports requires certain abilities. good cooperation with the multidisciplinary team structure.
