JOB LOCATION: Bloemfontein

REQUIREMENTS:

A grade 12 (NQF L4) or equivalent certificate plus a three-year B Degree or National Diploma in Finance/Accounting with a minimum of two (02) years of relevant experience on a post-level 5 or equivalent is required, as is a grade 12 certificate with subjects related to finance/accounting and a minimum of three (03) years of relevant experience on a post-level 5 or equivalent. A benefit would be more years of relevant experience as a finance clerk. Special prerequisites (necessary skills): MS Word, Excel, and Access proficiency.

It would be strongly advised to be knowledgeable with the Financial Management System (FMS) and PERSOL/PERSAL mainframe software used by the Department of Defence (DOD), the Public Service, and the Private Sector. familiarity with and exposure to the prescribed processes and procedures for departmental debt, as well as the relevant accounting transactions and activities. solid mathematics, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. Ability to successfully interact and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients, debtors, and management. Possesses solid judgement, an optimistic attitude, and effective supervision skills.

DUTIES:

Assist the Department of Defence (DOD) in managing, regulating, monitoring, and maintaining both existing and new departmental debt. putting into practise efficient recovery and management measures for unpaid debts owed to current and former members of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF), Public Service Act Personnel (PSAP), and private entities. putting procedures in place and keeping them up to date to efficiently manage departmental debt.

coordinating and communicating as needed with the State Attorney. control functions for debtor accounts include routinely monitoring and auditing all accounting transactions. Make sure that all relevant paperwork, correspondence, and files are logged and stored securely for auditing needs. cooperation, coordination, and communication with the Senior State Accountant in charge of the section at all times.

carrying out any other associated tasks and obligations in accordance with the Treasury Regulations (TR), the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and other pertinent legislation. effectively manages all the people, resources, data, and materials in his or her charge.
