Requirements

Duties
The Household Worker will provide housekeeping and cleaning services within the hospital. Duties include cleaning and maintaining allocated areas, removing waste, cleaning bathrooms and restrooms, sweeping, washing, dusting, polishing and vacuum cleaning.
The successful candidates may also be responsible for cleaning kitchen utensils and equipment, monitoring cleaning-material stock, maintaining cleaning equipment, reporting faulty equipment and shortages, and preparing boardrooms when required.
Additional responsibilities include safely storing cleaning materials and equipment, monitoring basic safety hazards, following universal precautionary measures and maintaining compliance with infection-control and hygiene regulations.
2. Food Service Aid – 4 Posts

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- NQF Level 1 or 2, ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
- Basic literacy.
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety measures.
- Knowledge of hygiene and bacterial contamination control.
- Ability to operate food-processing equipment.
- Ability to measure accurately.
Duties
Food Service Aids will assist with catering services at the hospital. Duties include following menus and special diet plans, preparing ingredients, cleaning and cutting vegetables, preparing meat, poultry and fish, and assisting with cooking and serving meals.
The successful candidates will also assist with packing and delivering food trolleys, ensuring that the correct meals reach the correct areas, collecting used crockery and cutlery, washing and storing equipment and maintaining a clean and hygienic food-service environment.
They will also be required to monitor safety and sanitation standards and report unsafe or unhygienic conditions to the supervisor.
3. Laundry Worker – 7 Posts

Requirements

- NQF Level 1 or 2, ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
- Understanding of a laundry environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work shifts, particularly night shifts.
- Willingness to rotate between different areas of the laundry.
- Honest and reliable.
- Physical strength and ability to cope with the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
Duties
Laundry Workers will assist with the collection, sorting, cleaning and distribution of hospital linen.
Responsibilities include collecting linen from relevant areas, keeping accurate records of linen collected and returned, preparing and disinfecting linen for washing, inspecting and maintaining linen, and operating laundry equipment such as washing machines, dryers, irons and pressing equipment.
Other duties include ironing, folding, counting and packing clean linen, sealing linen bags, delivering linen to relevant areas, sorting and recording dirty linen, and reporting faulty laundry machines or equipment to the supervisor.
Workers will also be required to monitor equipment temperatures, maintain laundry equipment in good condition and report defects requiring attention.
4. Property Caretaker – 4 Posts

Salary: R144,024 – R169,656 per annum (Level 02)
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- ABET Level 4 or NQF Level 1 to 3.
- No previous experience required.
- Must be physically strong and healthy.
- Ability to cope with the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to work in different weather conditions.
- Garden experience will be an advantage.
- Experience in cleaning, grounds maintenance or waste environments will be an advantage.
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
- Willingness to rotate to different areas when required.
Duties
Property Caretakers will be responsible for maintaining and developing the hospital’s gardens and surrounding grounds.
Duties include preparing soil for planting, maintaining trees, flowers, shrubs and grass, removing weeds, mowing lawns, planting trees and other plants, watering gardens and maintaining parking areas and pathways.
The successful candidates may also be required to move furniture, care for gardening machinery and equipment, remove and collect assets from various areas, clean gutters and maintain the general cleanliness of the facility surroundings.
All duties must be performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations and any additional duties delegated by the supervisor.
Salary
All four positions are on Salary Level 02 and offer:
R144,024 – R169,656 per annum
This is approximately R12,002 – R14,138 per month before applicable deductions.
