JOB LOCATION: Tshwane District Health Services (Eersterust Community Healthcare Centre
(CHC))

CONDITIONS FOR POSITION:

A bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or an equivalent qualification recognised by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) is required for registration as a pharmacist with SAPC. current SAPC registration. A thorough understanding of the National Drug Policy, pharmacy-related legislation (such as the Essential Medicines List and standard treatment guidelines), the PMFA, and governmental laws and regulations. HR, finance, and supply chain expertise.

JOB DUTIES

The general tasks and obligations of the accountable pharmacist for the Eersterust CHC Pharmacy, as outlined by law. Overall control for the Eersterust CHC Pharmacy’s pharmaceutical services, personnel, and inventory. Ensure that the medications chosen and acquired for the Eersterust CHC Pharmacy are appropriate. Establish guidelines and rules for the pharmacy’s staff members about actions taken and services rendered there.

Manage all HR needs for each employee who reports to you in the pharmacy. Participate in the demand planning for medicines and help manage the pharmacy’s budget for medications. Put safeguards in place to prevent under- or exceeding the budget.

Make sure that 96% of the medications are available in Eersterust CHC. Medications-related communication tactics used at Eersterust CHC and other healthcare facilities. Ensure the Eersterust CHC Pharmacy’s occupational health and safety. Make sure that unnecessary spending is minimised and that preventative measures are in place to limit unnecessary spending. Control and direct the daily operations of the Eersterust CHC Pharmacy.

Participate in the various committees and forums as needed both in your district and at the provincial level. At Eersterust CHC, create and oversee pertinent SOPs. Assure proper storage of thermolabile medications in the cold chain, including but not limited to at Eersterust CHC.

Maintain effective asset management. Make sure that campaigns involving pharmaceuticals are coordinated effectively and efficiently, and maintain contact with the district’s various programme coordinators.
